Abduction Threat Tips by Bruce Morcombe
- Be Observant – Look for anything unusual. Trust your instincts. If you think it is wrong it most probably is.
- Report any suspicions to a Trusted Adult or Police
- Note things that can help police. Number of people, their appearance, Car make and model, Car Reg
- We recommend that where possible always travel with a friend
- Never get into a vehicle with someone not authorised to collect you
- Use a Family Password so you do not get tricked
- Never be tempted with offers of Gifts from someone you do not know
- Never go within a few metres of a car if they seek your assistance – like looking for directions
- Check with your parents first if someone asks you to look for a puppy
- If you think a car is following you – Turn around and run in the opposite direction. If the car also turns around then run into the nearest front yard and yell/scream that you need help. Do not go into that house though. Stay where you can be seen by neighbours.
- Be cautious when using sites like Facebook. Delete all ‘friends' that you do not personally know. Do not accept ‘friends' of ‘friends'.
- Never reveal your personal details like where you live or phone numbers, what school you attend. This includes any photos of uniforms.
- Do not identify where you intend going on any social network site.
