Former Gold Coast Suns captain Gary Ablett has requested a trade home to Geelong.
The move comes after mounting speculation the dual Brownlow Medallist was unhappy and wanted out of the club.
Suns Chief Executive Mark Evans released this statement on Tuesday:
"Gary Ablett today informed the club of his desire to be traded to Geelong during next month's exchange period.
"We indicated to Gary and his manager Liam Pickering that there are conditions that will need to be met for the Gold Coast if this is to be achieved.
"Scott Clayton will be available to meet with Liam and Geelong to ensure these conditions are met.
"The club will not be making any further comment."
The trade period starts on Monday October 9.
