Beenleigh man killed in crash on Magnetic Island

Two men have died in a crash on Magnetic Island off the coast of North Queensland.

A 48-year-old Beenleigh man and a 41-year-old from Charters Towers were thrown from a Mini Moke when it crashed into a power pole shortly after 1:00 on Friday morning.

The driver of the open-top vehicle, a 25-year-old woman also from Charters Towers, was airlifted to the Townsville Hospital in a serious, but not life threatening condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene, and were looking into whether alcohol, speed and not wearing seatbelts were factors in the crash.

Police called for any witnesses to contact the Magnetic Island Police station or phone Police Link.
