Anyone hanging out at the cafes and restaurants on Chevron Island will soon be able to Instagram their meals using free Wi-Fi.
Gold Coast City Council was continuing its city wide roll-out with design work underway to get the popular area covered, from Surfers Paradise to the new Green Bridge connecting to the Home Of The Arts.
The Wi-Fi was expected to be up and running by June this year, allowing 4gb of data per day to be downloaded for free, as speeds comparable to a standard home internet connection.
Mayor Tom Tate believed it would mean a tourism boom for the area.
"Chevron Island is part of the Arts and Culture Precinct," said Cr Tate.
"The linkage to Surfers Paradise ... I think it will drag foot traffic.
"It's going to be a funky place."
Free Wi-Fi is already switched on in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Coolangatta and the Broadwater Parklands.
