Coles To Introduce Quiet Hour At Three More Gold Coast Stores

Three more Gold Coast Coles stores will take part in Quiet Hour from tomorrow.

After a trial at 14 Queensland stores, the grocery giant is expanding the initiative to include a total of 41 stores across the state.

The scheme is all about reducing lights, noise and other distractions to make shopping easier for people on the autism spectrum, who find it challenging to shop in a heightened sensory environment.

Coles State General Manager Jerry Farrell said the increased rollout comes on the back of overwhelmingly positive customer feedback.

“We’ve listened to our customers and have worked hard to make our stores more welcoming and responsive to the needs of the local communities in which we operate,” he said.

Five local stores will now turn off excess lighting, switch off the radio, turn register volumes down and stop trolley collections for 60 minutes between 10:30am and 11:30am every Tuesday.

Those stores include Mudgeeraba and Helensvale, as well as new editions Nerang, Benowa Village, and Hope Island.
