The major focus for the 2018 Commonwealth Games has shifted to Carrara Stadium on Day Seven and a few Aussies did not disappoint.
The night was off to a spectacular start with Kathryn Mitchell claiming the Gold medal in the Women’s Javelin Throw, smashing the Games Record on her first throw of the night, reaching 68.92m.
Brandon Starc emerged victorious in a thrilling shoot-out in the High Jump final, claiming Gold with a personal best of 2.32m which left the crowd in raptures.
While Henry Frayne took home the Silver in the Men’s Long Jump behind Luvo Manyonga of South Africa.
The action at Optus Aquatic Centre shifted from Swimming to the Diving with some immediate success for the Aussies.
Women’s pair of Esther Qin and Georgia Sheehan won Gold in the Synchronised 3m Springboard, while James Connor claimed Silver in the Men’s 1m Springboard.
It was a good day at the Shooting as well, with bearded-wonder Daniel Repacholi taking home the Gold in the Men’s 50m Pistol final, while Emma Cox won Silver in the Women’s Double Tap.
In Lawn Bowls, Australia’s Mixed B2/B3 Pairs team beat South Africa 12-9 to claim another Gold medal.
And Australia also won Bronze in the team final of the Rythmic Gymnastics, thanks to the Women’s team of Enid Sung, Danielle Prince and Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva.
