The city's first free high-speed Wi-Fi is now up and running in three of the main visitor and media hubs for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Internet download speeds 10 times as fast as household speeds can now be accessed in parts of Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and Broadwater Parklands.
It comes after Gold Coast City Council oversaw the laying of 45 kilometres of 864-core fibre along the light rail route.
There are plans to have Coolangatta included in the free Wi-Fi following the Commonwealth Games, while council plans to sell the network to telcos to continue and generate revenue for the city.
