Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has promised to put on a great spread and spectacular entertainment for the Games Shapers this weekend.

Commonwealth Games organisers, the State Government and Gold Coast City Council are hosting a free show in Southport for the 15,000 Commonwealth Games volunteers, who have sacrificed their time over the past couple of weeks.

The Games Shapers were originally told they would have to pay for, or bring along their own food and drink to the celebration but upon hearing this Ms Palaszczuk made a few quick phone calls.

Food trucks will now provide refreshment for free to Games Shapers, who are encouraged to wear their uniforms one last time.

It's on at the Broadwater Parklands from 3:00 on Saturday afternoon, with entertainment from local and international artists beginning from 3:30.

Minister for the Commonwealth Games Kate Jones has thanked all the volunteers for their enthusiasm and dedication.

“Our Games Shapers were the back-bone of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games,” she said.

“This is our chance for everyone to say thanks”.
