Passenger Saves Day After Driver Has Heart Attack On M1

Woman in 50s rushed to hospital

Passenger Saves Day After Driver Has Heart Attack On M1

A quick thinking passenger has leapt into action, when the driver of the car they were in went into cardiac arrest while doing 110km/h on the M1 last night.

The passenger managed to grab the wheel and steer the car across three northbound lanes of traffic at Oxenford around 7:30pm on Tuesday, coming to a stop safely on the side of the road.

They then gave the driver CPR, while being given directions over the phone from the Triple-Zero operator.

Paramedics took over when they arrived on the scene, later transporting a woman in her 50s to hospital in a critical condition.
