The mostly deadly suburbs on the Gold Coast have been revealed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Pimpama has topped the list.
No explanation could be given for why the death rate in the northern suburb was more than double what it was for the rest of the city.
Pimpama's rate was at 11.4 deaths per 1000 people, compared to the Gold Coast average of 5.1, and the Australian rate of 6.5.
Suburbs including Merrimac, Labrador, Varsity Lakes, Currumbin Valley and Southport North were also above the national average.
More people on the Gold Coast also died as a result of injury than the rest of the state, with the rate at 53.9 per 100,000 people, compared to 45.8 Queensland-wide.
