Potential new shopping centre on the horizon for the Gold Coast

Plans are in the works to build the Gold Coast's first new shopping centre in more than 20 years at Clear Island Waters.

According to News Corp, developer Sunland has lodged plans for a two-level, 80-store centre at the corner of Bermuda Street and Hooker Boulevard.

The project has been titled The Lanes, with the first stage to cost around $200 million.

If the bid is successful, it would become the first shopping mall built in the city since Robina Town Centre in 1996.
