Sixth person charged with murder of Gold Coast dad

22-year-old to face court

Sixth person charged with murder of Gold Coast dad

More than two years after Gold Coast dad Greg Dufty disappeared, police have charged another man with his alleged murder.

37-year-old Dufty was last seen at his home in Ashmore in July 2015, and police believe he was killed over a drug debt.

Six people have previously been charged with Mr Dufty's murder including Lionel Patea, who was sent to jail for life earlier this year for bashing his ex-girlfriend Tara Brown to death on the side of a Gold Coast road in September 2015.

Police have this morning confirmed a 22-year-old man has become the sixth person to be slapped with a murder charge over Mr Dufty's disappearance.

News Corp has named him as former rising rugby league star Ethan Clarke, who was originally charged over the same crime in August last year, but the charges were dropped in March when a court found there wasn't enough evidence against him.

The 22-year-old has now been recharged and will face the Southport Magistrates Court on December 18.
