A man has been left in a critical condition after a tackle gone wrong at Runaway Bay Sports Ground today.
Queensland Ambulance crews were called to the fields off Morala Avenue around 11.30am on Thursday.
The man in his 30s was suffering from serious spinal injuries suffered in a tackle, although it wasn't confirmed exactly which sport he was playing.
The QAS High Acuity Unit were on scene before the patient was transported in a critical condition by road to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane for specialist treatment.
Runaway Bay Sports Ground was hosting the first day of the 2019 NRL Masters Carnival at the time.
