Police have charged an 18-year-old man with attempted rape, following an investigation into a number of incidents on a popular jogging track in Varsity Lakes.
Three women were allegedly confronted by a man committing lewd acts, while they were walking through bushland off Reedy Creek Rd in separate incidents between April, 2017 and as recently as last month.
A Varsity Lakes teenager was arrested yesterday and charged with attempted rape, three counts of indecent acts, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The incidents led council to install more CCTV cameras around the wetlands and mow grass to increase visibility, while police increased their presence in the area.
