Two young girls have been accused of trying to mug a woman at Southport overnight.
The 14-year-olds allegedly pulled a knife on a woman in her 20s on Nerang St around 8pm on Thursday, demanding she hand over cash.
Police said the woman refused, and was punched multiple times in the head and upper body.
The girls fled the scene empty-handed but were arrested a short time later.
Both have since been charged with attempted armed robbery, one also facing a charge of stealing.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
