Might want to find a table under cover if you're planning a BBQ this Easter long weekend.
There will be showers about right across the 4-day break although Meteorologist Livio Regano from the Bureau of Meteorology expected the sun to come out in between sprinkles.
"It's not going to be a picnic weekend, but today's probably the worst day," he said.
"As we move into Good Friday and Easter Saturday the showers will continue but there will be patches of sun in between, it's not going to be that horrible, and the wind will start to drop".
Mr Regano said it's pretty rare to get perfect weather over the Easter break.
"Easter is traditionally one of the wettest times of the year on the Gold Coast so it's hardly surprising if you don't get a perfect long weekend," he said.
Meantime, those people heading along to the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony might want to pack a poncho with more showers expected on Wednesday.
"While we have this south-east wind blowing we can't really see in any great detail that far ahead but it most likely will be typical south-easterly weather where you have the big grey clouds coming in every now again, dropping their loads and disappearing and then you get sunny breaks in between," said Mr Regano.
