Three Workers Crushed By Falling Material In Surfers Paradise

UPDATE: Three workers have now been taken to hospital, following an earlier workplace incident at Surfers Paradise. 

Heavy metal pipes fell on the men at the Jewel construction site on Old Burleigh Road at around 8.43am on Wednesday.

One of the workers was trapped but Gavin Fuller from the Queensland Ambulance Service said his colleagues managed to lift it off him.

"Which was quite good considering it weighs about 80kg a metre," he said. 

A 27-year-old male was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition will a possible fractured pelvis.

The other two workers were also struck by the pipe but weren't trapped underneath it.

Both men, aged 28, were transported to hospital as well with leg and shoulder injuries. 

EARLIER: Three workers have been seriously injured in a workplace accident at Surfers Paradise.

It is believed the trio were crushed by falling material at the Jewel construction site on Old Burleigh Road at around 8.43am on Wednesday.

One of the workers was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

While the other two were being assisted on scene by High Acuity Response Unit and Critical Care Paramedics.
