If you've made the trip up to Springbrook or Lamington National Parks over the past year, you would have seen first hand all the damage caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
It's been nearly 11 months since the storm dumped a metre of rain in the hinterland, causing massive landslides and taking out sections of the road.
The good news is, work is now underway to fix Gold Coast-Springbrook Road and Lamington National Park Road.
Major repairs began today funded by the Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security Angus Taylor says the community's been suffering since the big storm.
“While a detour route to Springbrook via Pine Creek Road has been in place, the closure of Gold Coast-Springbrook Road since April 2017 due to safety concerns has had a big impact on the local community,” Mr Taylor said.
