The widow of murdered police officer Brett Forte has been mocked by sympathisers of gunman Rick Maddison.
A grief-stricken Susan Forte, a senior constable, needed the help of her family to walk as she left Toowoomba Police Station to place flowers at a memorial site this morning, The Courier Mail reports.
She was surrounded by family members and members of the media when a car load of Maddison supporters drove past, yelling: “What about Rick?”.
Despite an audible gasp, the Forte family did not respond, with Sen Constable Forte leaving the site with her 16-year-old daughter Emma Morris shortly after.
Senior Constable Brett Forte was shot dead in the Lockyer Valley, just out of Gatton, just before 2pm on Monday.
Details emerged yesterday of heroic efforts from Brett Forte’s partner, who used her bare hands to tear a whole in the windscreen of their upturned car, so she could drag him to safety amid gunfire from Maddison.
