There's been a failed terror attack in New York overnight.
A 27 year old man allegedly walked into a New York City subway station, near Times Square, with a homemade bomb strapped to his body. The bomb was detonated at around 7.20am local time, right on morning peak.
The suspect, who's believed to be a Bangladeshi immigrant, has been revealed as one of four people injured in the explosion. At this stage, none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.
Daniel Nigro, the New York fire department commissioner, said the suspect sustained burns to his hands and torso while the three other people were suffering from “ringing ears and headaches”.
The city's mayor says the mans intentions were obvious, but it's not yet known whether he is linked to official terror groups.
De Blasio says there are “no known additional incidents or activities” as a result of the attempted attack, but said there would be an increased police presence in the city.
There is video of the attack, and police are now reviewing it.
