Matt Rendell reminisces about his time as a recruiter for the Adelaide Crows and remembers how the Crows nearly let the Rory Sloane draft slip.
"That was the last year your could take 17 year olds.
So we were right to take Tex as our last pick.
Our second last pick was about pick 72 I think, we wanted to take Rory Sloane, the 17 year old.
And we’d already taken 5 midfielders. Craigy suggested that no, we had to take a tall to even up the balance.
Which we weren’t too happy about! I made a pathetically weak decision.
As it turned out, we picked him up at 44 the following year. It’s fluke-ish. It’s funny how things turn out!"
