In a historic move, the NRL last night announced five players would be inducted as Immortals of the game.
Three of the five; Dally Messenger, Frank Burge and Dave Brown were specially inducted as part of the Pre-WWII members of rugby league.
On the Triple M Grill Team, Matty Johns spoke of the history surrounding Messenger, Burge and Brown and exactly how these players helped grow the game of rugby league in Australia.
Matty also spoke of the introduction of the 12th and 13th Immortals, 10-time Premiership winner Norm Provan and State of Origin legend Mal Meninga.
Messenger, Burge, Brown, Provan and Meninga join Clive Churchill, Bob Fulton, Reg Gasnier, Johnny Raper, Graeme Langlands, Wally Lewis, Arthur Beetson and Andrew Johns as the 13 rugby league Immortals.
