The term GOAT gets thrown around a lot about athletes.
Perhaps the current sportsman who’s closest to fitting the bill is Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who scores not only heaps and heaps of goals but they’re nearly always amazing and meaningful.
Today he put a dagger in Liverpool’s collective heart with a quick fire brace in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, with his second an amazing free kick that effectively shut the door on the Reds’ chances of progressing to the final.

Even more remarkable is this footage filmed from the crowd behind the goal as the goal went in which shows just how much movement he put on the ball and how impossible it was for the goalkeeper to save.
To put the icing on the cake, the goal was Messi’s 600th for Barcelona.
