Anyone who’s ever been to a Sunday sesh or beach BBQ will know that Bob Marley reggae vibes are the perfect antidote to a stressful, troublesome week.
There’s something about those laid-back island influences that provide the ideal chill out music.
Well, what better way to laze into this weekend on the GC than a Friday evening gig by global reggae and roots phenomenon Katchafire? That’s exactly what the popular night market and epic event curator NightQuarter in Helensvale has in store for you.
After 20 years of performing not only locally at events such as Byron Bay Bluesfest but also all across the US and Europe, NZ’s favourite eight-piece are touching down in Helensvale for a one-night-only performance.
Fresh from picking up two nominations at the New Zealand Music Awards (Best Roots Artist and Best Maori Artist), Katchafire are back on the road promoting their brand new album that’s taken the world by storm.
Released in June, Legacy hit #1 on the Kiwi iTunes charts within hours and went on to chart both nationally and in the States too (along with many other countries around the globe). Recorded during their previous world tour, tracks were laid down in NZ, Australia, LA, Hawaii and Jamaica which makes perfect sense given its fusion of chill grooves, R&B vibes and slinky pop – a real mature, universal sound.
“The brothers are excited to bring new music to our Fire family... We have been working hard to bring some new fire. It’s sounding great to our ears and we can't wait to share the music with everybody.”
- Singer Logan Bell on the new album, Legacy
While their multiple awards and platinum sales speak volumes to just how much Katchafire are adored by their massive fan base, it’s their near-legendary live performances, often sold out, that really allow these troubadours to flex their muscles and show off.
Joined on stage at NightQuarter by supporting act and Jamaican maestros EarthKry, Kimmy n Krew and The 4’20 Sound, Katchafire’s Gold Coast leg of the Legacy Love Australia 2018 Tour promises to be one unforgettable night.
