If you're looking to 'up' your skills when it comes to arts and crafts or, if you just want a new fun hobbie, you need to go along to the Basket Weaving Workshop this Thursday night at The Craft Parlour!
Known to be one of the most ancient crafts, it is definitely not slowing down any time soon. Now, you can get involved and put your basket weaving skills to the test!
During the workshop, you'll create a coiled basket using raffia and recycled materials such as denim, silk, wire and other fabrics and yarns. You'll learn the ancient elements of the craft as you go and before you know it, you'll be well-versed in all things basket weaving!
Ruth from Craft School Oz will be taking the class and she'll share her knowledge and talent with you. From travelling around the world learning techniques and the craft from women weavers in South East Asia and Arnhem Land. You'll be able to create a beautiful, colourful, textured basket to use as you please and, you'll be impressed at what you created with the best tool you have - your hands.
